Library Rules & regulations
General Library Rules:
• Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
• Books can be issued only against Barcoded ID card issued by the HBTU, Kanpur to the borrowers.
• The ID-Card is non-transferable and their loss should be immediately reported to the Library.
• Reference books, Text books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers will not be issued to take out of the Library.
• Reference books, Newspaper, Magazines/Journals should not be taken out of the library.
• Reference Books are issued to students for overnight during the examination time only.
• The Reference Shelf book must be returned on the due date between 10.00 am to 11.00 am. And General Shelf books on or before the due date stamp mentioned on due date slip pasted in the last page of the book by circulation desk.
• There will be a fine of Rs.1.00 per General Shelf book.
• A fine of Rs. 5/- per day will be charged if reference book issued for overnight is not returned within stipulated time.
• Absence and illness are not acceptable excuses for exemption from paying overdue charges. Only Institutional holidays are left out the reckoning, if the due date falls on a holidays/vacation.
• The borrowing facility can be withdrawn or restricted in case of misbehaviors or misuse of the library.
• The borrower will be responsible for any loss or non-return of any books issued against his/her identity card. Borrower must satisfy himself / herself about the sound condition of the book before leaving the issue counter. He/she will be responsible for any damage to the book detected at the time of return.
• If an issued book has been misplaced, damaged or lost by the student, and then the same must be replaced with the latest edition by the students. If this replacement is not done, then the student will be charged original procurement cost plus 30% of the original cost, In addition to the above, student also must pay the late fine as per rule.
